This week our Radon Engineer Phil was in Spratton, a village in the West Northamptonshire installing a radon sump system on a property with high levels of radon gas.
Northamptonshire is considered a higher-risk area for radon gas, a naturally occurring radioactive gas produced by uranium in rocks and soil.
High levels can be found in properties and buildings, particularly in places like Daventry, Towcester, Wellingborough, Kettering, and Northampton, above 200 Bqm3 (the UK Action Level), increasing lung cancer risk.
Testing for radon is recommended for homes and businesses across Northamptonshire.
